IN LARGE OR BIG HOTEL, A RECEIPTIONIST WELCOME S AND REGISTERS THE GUESTS.

IN SMALL HOTEL , THE WORK OF RECEIPTIONIST MAY ALSO INCLUDE THE JOB OF AN ADVANCED RESERVATION, ADUTY OFFICER, AN OFFICE BOYS AND EVEN A BOOKEEPER.

THEY ALSO HAVE TO BE SKILLFUL IN HANDLING ALL THE ENQUIRIES MADE BY THE CUSTOMERS . THE CUSTOMERS MAY ASK ABOUT THE ACCOMODATION, THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL, TYPES OF ROOM, RATE FOR EACH ROOM, THE AVAILABLE ROOMS TO RESERVE, AND MANY OTHERS.

RESERVATION THROUGH A TELEPHONE IS THE MOST COMMON FOR SOME HOTELS. IT CAN BE DONE QUICKLY FROM A CERTAIN DISTANCE AND IT IS ALSO EASY TO GET COMPLETE INFORMATION FOR BOTH THE DUTY OFFICER AND THE CUSTOMERS. FACE TO FACE RESERVATIONS IS THE BEST WAY FOR BOTH OF THEM BECAUSE THEY CAN GIVE AND GET INFORMATION COMPLETELY AND DIRECTLY. BOTH OF THEM ARE SURE THAT THE CUSTOMERS GET THE ROOM RESERVED AND THE HOTEL OFFICER GET COMFIRMATION FROM THE GUEST. FUTURE PERFECT EXPRESSES AN ACTIVITY THAT WILL BE COMPLETED (FINISHED) BEFORE ANOTHER TIME(EVENT) IN THE FUTURE. THE FORM OF FUTURE PERFECT IS AS FOLLOWS :

future perfect continuous emphasizes the duration of an activity that will be in progress before another time {event} in the future.

the form of future perfect continuous is as follows :

both patterns usually use a time expression beginning with by. for instance, by then, by that time by the 12th , by the end of this year( this week, next month,etc.) other time expressions that may be used are before, when after.

read and study the following notes carefully about filling in a reservation form

besides reservation form, to take areservation, a reservation clerk needs several forms to fill in. one of them is reservation inquiry. reservation inquiry usually consist of several information as follow:

  1. guest name, usually full name.
  2. number of people who will stay in hotel.
  3. adress ang phone as wellas fax number if any.
  4. company or travel name.
  5. type and number of room requested.
  6. room rate.
  7. method of payment.
  8. special request
  9. detail of time of arrival and fight number ( if the customer wants to be picked up in the airport.
  10. detail of departure time (if the customers wants to be taken to the airport.

look at the example below :

on february 13, 2008, mr tommy hanggono make a reservation for mr and mrs budianto hardiman. the reservation is for 16 february 2008. he ask for suite room for three days. mr and mrs hardiman will stay at the hotel from february 16 to february 19, 2008. the payment will be received from pt delco company account. they want to have their breakfast in the room at 7.30 a.m.
